CEV Sauvignon Blanc 2006 wins "Trophée Excellence" at VinExpo
The 2006 CEV Sauvignon Blanc from Colio Estate Vineyards in Colchester,
Ontario has been awarded Les Citadelles du Vin’s “Trophée Excellence” at
VinExpo Asia Pacific 2008 in Hong Kong, China.
The award, equivalent to a silver medal, elated the company’s winemaker, Tim
Reilly.
“This is another strong showing in international competition for our winery and
shows the ability of this grape and this region to compete on the world stage,”
Tim proclaimed after learning the news.
Eleven hundred cases were produced from the estate vineyards out of a growing
season that began with an abbreviated but quite warm spring. It was followed
by a hot, relatively dry summer leading up to the harvest which allowed for
good maturation of the white grape varieties in the Lake Erie North Shore.
“This is truly a prestigious honour and a credit to Tim and our Vineyard
Manager, Kevin Donohue,” stated Jim Clark, the winery’s President.
The CEV Sauvignon Blanc is available at any of the 14 Wine Region of Colio
Estate retail boutiques across the province or directly through the winery. The
LCBO has also committed to carrying this fine white wine through their
Vintages program.
